Growing up, I struggled in school because I just couldn't focus. Video games were the only thing I cared about from age 6-14. When my GPA reached a 1.7, I started taking Concerta for my "ADHD."
Over Quarantine(14), I became very interested in economics. I loved reading Hyman Minsky, Michal Kalecki, L Wrandall Wray, and John Maynard Keynes. I couldn't go as deep as I wanted in this interest because my focus was so heavily impaired, and this caused me great distress.
On my first day of junior year(16), I realized my ADHD medication was giving me tics, and I googled "Is concerta bad for you?" This was the beginning of a 2 year(biphasic) obsession with pharmacology and neurobiology.
That winter break, I heard of a trend called the "dopamine detox." This is the idea that hyperstimulating and effortless activities(social media, video games, drugs) desensitize your dopamine receptors, making it harder to focus, have fun, and be happy. This described my life perfectly, so I decided to start removing some of these activites.
After 3 months of experimenting(spring break), I made so much progress that I was able to come off my medication completely. I could focus at a level that previously would've required 108mg concerta(2 max dose pills) to get even close to.
I still didn't like the idea of school. I wanted to make something. I decided to graduate a semester early and put all my time into making social media content about the ADHD strategies I was using(18). But you can only make so much content that says "stop watching content."
I was much better at outbound marketing, and I helped several business owners get more work done in my productivity program, ADHD Accelerator.
In December 2024, I realized that I'd MUCH rather be making software than information products, so I started learning python.
Since late march, my main life focus has been making useful software. I'll post some major projects here by the end of april.
Stay tuned!
